Welcome to The Richmond Society, local residents who have been protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment of Richmond, south-west London, since 1957.
Our purpose is to help keep Richmond a great place in which to live, work or visit.
We do this by:
- Campaigning to preserve its historic character, unique features and amenities
- Promoting high standards in planning, building and landscaping
- Protecting the quality of life, balancing the interests of residents, businesses and visitors
- Encouraging an active interest in Richmond and its community whilst providing a focus for members to meet and socialise
Richmond’s urban attributes – Queen Anne, Georgian and later buildings; theatres, concerts, restaurants and shops as well as small and large businesses – combine with world famous open spaces to create a uniquely beautiful location.
Its position on an enchanting bend of the river, bounded by Richmond Hill with Turner’s view, two Royal Parks and Kew Gardens, has attracted visitors for centuries.
We work to conserve and enhance all of this and more.
Do come to one of our events, and do join us!
