Do you Love Richmond?

About us

The Richmond Society is a community of people who are passionate about Richmond’s special character. We believe in the force of a strong, shared voice. We have been speaking out to protect and enhance Richmond’s beautiful open spaces and elegant riverside built environment for public benefit since 1957.  Our manifesto for Richmond is here.

What we do

  • Encourage pro-active interest in Richmond
  • Promote high standards of building and conservation including an annual awards scheme
  • Preserve and enhance landscaping
  • Review and comment on strategic developments and planning applications that affect the town, green spaces and riverside
  • Oppose air pollution and Heathrow expansion
  • Arrange relevant talks and heritage walks to allow our members to socialise with like-minded people

Trustee recruitment

We are seeking several people to join our trustee team.   In particular, we are looking for individuals with skills and experience in areas including:

  • Communications and presenting a persuasive case.
  • Administration including preparation of agendas and minutes of meetings
  • IT strategy to help us make the best use of technology in our work

The time commitments will vary with the role but are typically about half a day a week.  We have a trustee meeting approximately monthly and trustees can attend in person or on Zoom.  We have an annual general meeting and party with members in December.  Our trustee meetings are in the evenings.

If you are interested in what the Richmond Society does, and have skills you can offer us then please talk to us.  Previous experience of being a trustee is not essential since we will offer a full induction to the role and continued support.

We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and identities.   The application process starts with an initial informal discussion with existing trustees.  Please contact us at secretary@richmondsociety.org.uk
